About Hadden Boat Company

Hadden Boat exists to build boats out of wood. During our 30 years in business we have gained a reputation for not only quality construction and repair but for the intangible "eye sweet" nature of our finished work. Different builders of the same design can always be told apart; success depends on the eye and hand of the particular worker. All our boats manage to fulfill the designer's original intent combined with the particular wishes of the customer, not always an easy task.

We are located in a field on Georgetown Island one mile away from Robinhood Cove, our principal ocean access. A concerted effort to achieve and maintain simplicity over the years has enabled us to keep costs down, which allows us the unusual opportunity to build a completely different boat each time and stay in business. The shop comfortably accommodates boats up to 40 feet. We are adept at power, sail and rowing craft, large or small, work or pleasure.

At times we are called away to handle projects too large for the shop; these have included the schooners Harvey Gamage and Spirit of Massachusetts, and replica ships Bounty and North Carolina's Elizabeth ll. Otherwise we are in the shop continuing work on what to date has included: catboats (13 to 25 feet) , yawls (2 Sea Birds and 2 34' Knutsons), power cruisers (2 of W. Atkin's), Whitehalls, lobsterboats, and classy looking outboard skiffs.
