About Ellis Boat Co

Every time you step into your dinghy to go ashore, you find yourself gazing back at her striking lines. Each day, when you take your place at the helm, you feel a rush of anticipation and delight. As you relax in the open cockpit, or in the spacious cabin, your eyes are irresistibly drawn from detail to detail, following graceful curves to superb joinery. As you pilot her out of the harbor someone hails you, asking what kind of boat she is and telling you how great she looks.
- This is how it feels to own an Ellis.

Ellis Boat Company is located on the coast of Maine on Mount Desert Island. We are a company with a rich tradition and history in Maine boat building. Bunker and Ellis began building custom wooden Lobster Yachts in 1945. Today, Ellis Boat Company continues to build traditional style Downeast power boats, from basic lobster boats to luxury cruisers, on fiberglass semi-displacement hulls designed by Ralph and Donald Ellis.

Keeping with the tradition of custom boat building in Maine, every Ellis boat is as unique as its owner and the level of detail and quality of craftsmanship exceed all of today's standards.
